Match preview

Bournemouth get a visit from Liverpool, and the Reds’ London-based contingent can hardly complain about the journey. A trip to the south coast is about as convenient as away days get when you’re based in the capital. But once the whistle goes, the postcode won’t matter. Bournemouth will want to make the Vitality Stadium uncomfortable, while Liverpool will expect to leave with three points. The match is Sunday 20 September at 2pm.

Recent form

Liverpool haven’t exactly been strolling through the opening weeks. Two draws from their first two league games have left Andoni Iraola still searching for his first Premier League win as Reds boss. Bournemouth, meanwhile, have already shown they can cause serious problems, even if the results haven’t always followed the performances

Head-to-head

Liverpool have had the better of this one, but Bournemouth have never been particularly interested in following the script. The Reds have dominated the overall Premier League record, yet the Vitality can be a tricky little place to visit. Bournemouth will be hoping home advantage can turn this into another uncomfortable afternoon for Liverpool.

Why fans are watching

Liverpool fans have the trophies, the travelling support and, apparently, plenty of supporters conveniently living down south. So the journey to Bournemouth should be a doddle. The harder part could be getting three points. Can the Cherries send the London-based Reds home disappointed, or will Liverpool finally get their season properly moving? Who does the world WANT to win?
