The result gives Aston Villa their first league victory of the season, while Tottenham remain without a Premier League win after five matches. Spurs had also failed to score in their opening four league games, making their two goals a notable end to that drought despite the defeat.
The poll was exceptionally tight, with Tottenham Hotspur taking 51% of the 223 votes and Aston Villa receiving 49%. Fans therefore narrowly wanted Tottenham to win, but the two-point split shows there was almost no separation between the sides.
Tottenham’s strongest backing came from the United Kingdom, United States, India, France and Nigeria, spanning several major football audiences. Aston Villa drew their strongest support from Australia, Canada, Spain, Argentina and Israel. The spread across Europe, the Americas, Asia, Africa and Oceania highlights the global reach of both clubs, while Tottenham’s slim overall edge suggests only a marginally broader level of support among participating fans.
